Sounds transfer moods, make atmosphere, and can start emotions. Used in correct way, they improve and contribute to Flash project and whole application.
Flash support three main audio forms:
-wave form audio file form for windows (WAV)
-audio interchange file form for macintosh (AIFF)
-MPEG-1 audio level 3 for Macintosh and windows (MP3)
Mainly used form is MP3 because of its compression and size. Due to its compression, it shortens the time needed for loading the desired project. Audio content could be processed directly in Flash, but it’s recommended to edit the sound in some sound editors like Sound Forge before integration process. Cutting the music sequence, removing the noise, adding the sound effects and sound compression makes it easier to later use within the project. Edited and compressed sequences are directly imported in Flash where they are arranged and controlled depending of reproduction mode. Sometimes it`s enough to enrich animation with several short and controlled sounds to change the complete impression. Sometimes it`s better for animation to be followed by longer music theme so we only have to adjust visual to audio contents. Sounds in Flash can be:
-stream
-action sounds
Depending on the downloaded data size, streaming sounds may have limited reproduction while the action sounds are reproduced only when they are completely downloaded and could be repeated in animation without increasing the file. They are the best choice for buttons, short sounds, and sound effects.
Using audio content moderate, compression and reproduction mode make the whole project far more acceptable in modern frames of web presentations.
